Kat Jones

Throughout the madness that was SXSW 2012, I did find time to get to shoot some portraits and take a break from the live music coverage.

Kat Jones is an indie rock artist from Portland, OR. She's in the works of releasing a new album and the stuff I've heard off the demos sounds pretty rad. I had the pleasure of meeting Kat last year at Cornerstone Festival after she did a performance at the Enthos Clothing booth. I saw she was going to be in Austin for SXSW, so we met up to do a quick shoot.

We had some awesome overcast skies right before we started shooting. And as soon as we started shooting, the sun decided it needed to bout out in full force. Ha! Luckily, Kat was a real trooper and didn't melt in her polyester dress. Here are some of my favorites from the shoot. Oh and check out Kat's other albums on her Bandcamp page at www.katjones.bandcamp.com.

An Easter Adventure

There's a certain type of clarity and peace I feel when I'm out on the road on my bike. Open road. Good music on the headphones. And my thoughts. It's not often I post something personal on here only because I don't feel it'd be genuine from me if I did it every day or week.

For many people, including myself, Easter is about becoming alive again. For me, I needed something to wipe the week's slate clean. So, I set a goal. Ride 20-25 miles on my bike. Again, for those of you who don't know me, cycling has become a personal favorite activity. The most I've ever ridden on my bike is 21 miles. So, I decided I would ride from my house out to Manor, TX, which according to GoogleMaps was 9.9 miles. Off I went. Not only did I meet my goal, but I surpassed it. I rode 26.9 miles! An all time personal best. I couldn't believe I did it. But, my legs made sure I knew I did last night because they felt like jello. Haha.

For those of you who don't follow me on Twitter or Instagram, then you were lucky enough to not have your newsfeed blown up by my posts yesterday. Ha! I snapped some photos out on my iPhone on the ride and wanted to share them with ya'll on here. My challenge to you for this week? Set some goals. Even if it's just one goal, do it! I'm fired up about this week and ready to get to work. Have a great week!

P.S. Special thanks to the little Pentecostal church in Manor that let me refill my water bottle.

Denny & Christie’s Wedding

Like Whoa! Did someone just shoot, edit, and blog a wedding in the same month? Oh, that's me! I was practically bursting at the seams to edit this wedding.

Denny and Christie are some pretty incredible people and have equally incredible friends and family. There's something to be said when your friends and family rally around you and make it their mission to help make your special day a reality. You could see everyone beaming with pride and joy. Even in the ceremony, Denny's father who presided over it, couldn't fight back tears. Christie looked absolutely beautiful in her dress that Denny's mother handmade.

Enjoy!
